September 26 - 29th, 2010
Welcome
The Charlottesville Fire Department invites Fire and EMS professionals to attend the 2010 Metro Fire Planners Conference. For 30 years the Metro Fire Planners Conference has served as an annual forum to bring together dedicated Fire and EMS professionals from throughout the United States and Canada. This conference brings together operations, planning, and management practitioners to highlight best practices and discuss a wide range of prevalent Fire and EMS issues.
Using an informal roundtable format, the Metro Fire Planners Conference provides a cost-effective means to establish invaluable professional contacts and for attendees to participate in three days of wide-ranging roundtable discussions. Attendees learn what some of the best minds in Fire and EMS services have to say about their business.
This is not a conference where you sit back and listen to speakers at the front of the room. If you wish to participate in round-table discussions and share your knowledge and experience with other Fire and EMS service members, this is the conference for you.
Conference agenda topics are not limited to, but have typically included operational planning, Fire and EMS performance measures, apparatus and equipment, staffing, accreditation, deployment models, health and safety, geographic information systems, and many other topics of current interest.
Please note that although the conference is called the "Metro Fire Planners Conference", attendance is not limited to metro-sized departments.
In addition to three days of meetings, a Sunday networking group excursion is planned that will provide an opportunity for conference attendees to get acquainted and experience the beauty, history, and culture of Central Virginia. Attendees will enjoy a Sunday morning tour of Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, lunch at Historic Michie Tavern, and an afternoon ride into the Central Virginia countryside to an area vineyard.
